To-date every control unit from the original prototype, subsequent prototype and test units, through all revisions including the currently working VERSION 2 unit, have been working with stirrers fitted with Fasco general purpose motors, they have proven rock solid under a wide variety of conditions and are highly recommended to match the BD Stirrer Control Units.
The Control Unit V2 (1HP) currently available for single stirrers has been working in the field with stirrers fitted with the Fasco 1HP GP motor:
1 HP / 750 W model number 809424QTE-C01
Undergoing development of the Control Unit V2 (2HP) control unit is intended for use with the Fasco 2HP GP motor:
2 HP / 1500 W model number 809424XTE-C01
There is also a mid-range Fasco GP motor which has not yet been extensively tested with any current control units:
1.5 HP / 1100 W model number 809424STE-C01
A single 60 gallon stirrer requires only the 750 W model, one of these motors has been in service for well over 15 years now, originally with the very first prototype control unit and more recently upgraded to the new Control Unit V2 (1HP), and has been working flawlessly all that time (I’ve been told 1st hand it hasn’t even needed the bearings serviced).
For twin 60 gallon stirrers the 1500 W model is recommended to ensure smooth operation with no strain on the motor (running at less than maximum capacity will ensure longevity for the motor and control unit’s high voltage circuits including the switching relays).
For other size stirrers any of the three models mentioned depending on workload requirements would make a very suitable match to the VERSION 2 revisions of the control units.
Detailed specifications for stirring modification or construction using these motors can be downloaded here, including overall dimensions, relative mounting plate placement, and drive shaft dimensions.
